Welcome
Here at 1-GoodDeedaDay.com we have a very simple vision:
To make the world smile – one face at a time!
Why?
Well. Why not?
We live in a world where we get fed lots of negative news through the media, mainly because this kind of news sells (apparently) but also because there is quite a lot of negative and bad news out there.
We’re coming to the end of 2009 and there’s a very tough economic climate affecting us all over the world. There are wars in some countries, civil rest in others and high levels of political tension in many more.
There are, also, religious and racial tensions in many parts of the world which are fuelled, no doubt, by the fear of terrorism, amongst other things. Tolerance seems to be sadly lacking in our society. Crime is rising in many of the richer nations where the impression that many of us have is of a society where everyone, simply, thinks of themselves. Where there seems to be a growing lack of respect for other peolple and their property.
Now, obviously, it isn’t all like this. There’s lots of good stuff happening out there as well. There are people that carry out spontaneous acts of kindness, people that raise money for all kinds of charities and good causes (or volunteer their time to help out), some people go out of their way to help out strangers that are experiencing some kind of difficulty or problem.
In fact, All manner of these kinds of things are going on but we don’t seem to hear about them. Good or positive news just doesn’t seem to travel very far or very fast – and as far as the media are concerned, it doesn’t sell, so they don’t tend to report too much of it.
Even amongst friends, family and work colleagues it seems to be human nature for many of us to complain and focus on the negatives in our lives, those problems that are affecting or worrying us and. When we do this, it is difficult to think about other people and how we can help them.
They say that attitudes are contagious but why is it that negative ones are so much more contagious than positive ones?
That’s a question that always frustrates! The sad fact is, it does seem to be a world where people are more likely to frown rather than smile, which means that making our vision a reality is going to be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, for just a few of us to achieve.
So. We need help! Lots and lots and lots and lots of help! How are you fixed?
The sole purpose of this website is to inspire you to join us in our mission to help make the world smile. The logic goes something like this;
If enough people choose to participate and, as a consequence, undertake to do at least 1 Good Deed a Day then, just maybe, we can make the world smile. At the very worst we can make lots of people smile which will, perhaps, make their own world seem like a ‘little bit better’ place to be.
The actual deeds themselves can be as small, or as large, as you want them to be. We’re not talking about people having to undertake mammoth tasks in order to make someone smile. The point is to get as many people as possible in the habit of thinking about someone else, at some point, every day.
If we all do just 1 Good Deed a Day, just maybe, we could bring a smile to the world – every day. Who knows, we may even manage to make the world a better place! So, if you want to know why you should join us, click here.

If only everyone in the country, no the world, could do just one good deed a day it would definitely make this troubled world we live in today a far better place. I think it is everyones responsibility to help those who may be less fortunate than ourselves. Not necessarily in a finacial way but in a loving and caring way. We have all needed some help one way or another in the past and I suspect that many of us are quite happy to receive that help. What we should do now is to think of other ways in which we can help other people.
On the 21st Dec 2009 at 7.30pm my wife Gail got her car stuck in the ice while attempting to visit a ckient. The client spent the next hour, by himslef, trying to release her car. He pushed it, pulled it, bumped and then got his wheelbarrow out of the garage walked half a mile to a grit bin. Filled it with grit then walked all the wy back on some terribly icy pavements, spread the grit under all four wheels and then eventually got her free.and and we thank him very much.. Without him she would probably have been there all night as the temperature was dropping and the ice would have got worse. this is truly a good deed.
